Interplay of Fire and ice

From a distance this piece reads as three opulently colored fields of pale yellow, orange/red and blue.  But when the viewer gets up close, they see the incredible complexity of the multi-layered surface and the literally hundreds of small marks and brushstrokes that add a rich dynamism to the painting.  The marks are both adding and subtractung from the surface, often revealing the colors in the hidden layer beneath or dabbing on small bits of complimentary colors to make the surface sing.
